Even in the midst of tough times, most of you still happy at work

happy workAccording to our annual survey, most of you are still happy at work – just not as happy as you have been. The third annual SnagAJob.com Labor Happiness Index, which polls more than 1,000 hourly and salaried workers, found that 58% of the U.S. workforce says they’re happy on the job. This number is down more than 7 percentage points from last year.

Not surprisingly the economy seems to be to blame. Over 6.7 million U.S. workers have lost their jobs over the course of the economic downturn. About 24% of workers said the only reason they were happy because they had a job.  The good news is that 41% say they’re happy because their jobs give them personal satisfaction or suit their lifestyle.

Just like last year, the economy still is considered by most of you to be the number one issue facing America today, followed by healthcare.
